Triennial Earth-Sun Summit Comes To Seattle In 2022

Triennial Earth-Sun Summit (TESS)

Scheduled for August 9th to 12th, 2022, the Triennial Earth-Sun Summit is planned for Seattle/Bellevue, Washington. The original date was for 2021, but due to the COVID-19 virus and lack of vaccine, the conference was pushed back to 2022.

The 2022 conference will be the 53rd meeting, and is a joint meeting of the Space Physics and Aeronomy Section of the American Geophysical Union and the AAS Solar Physics Division. Attendees and participants are made by the entire Heliophysics community, including all four traditional sub-disciplines devoted to studies of the Sun, Heliosphere, Magnetosphere, and Ionosphere-Thermosphere-Mesosphere. TESS not only promotes greater interaction and unity within Heliophysics, but also connections to astrophysics and planetary physics.

These meetings only occur once every 3 years to bring together those with a Sun-Earth connection to “step back” and consider the system as a whole, stimulating cross-fertilization and new insights.”

At the last Triennial Earth-Sun Summit (TESS) in 2018, with interesting topics including meetings on space weather, solar physics missions, and lots of panels on a wide variety of subjects.

In addition to attending a plethora of interesting talks and panels, attending TESS in 2022 will be the networking with other scientists in person.
