US National Forests In Totality For The 2044 Solar Eclipse

The United States has 154 protected areas known as national forests, covering 188,336,179 acres (762,169 km2; 294,275 sq mi).National forests are managed by the U.S. Forest Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. There is at least one national forest in all but ten states: Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Dakota, and Rhode Island; although Kansas and North Dakota have national grasslands. Come learn which national forests to view the 2044 total solar eclipse from, including which have totality. Not every national forest has totality, but the ones in Montana are ideal.

Of the 3 US States in totality for the 2044 total solar eclipse, there are a combined 9 National Forests, 1 in South Dakota and 8 in Montana. The National Forest list is sorted in alphabetical order, with the South Dakota Forest being unable to view maximum totality due to the sun being below the horizon. Note, there is not a national forest in North Dakota.

All of these locations in Montana are close totality, they are still 99%. It is not recommended to view the solar eclipse without proper eyewear unless in totality.
