In the age of COVID-19, and a lot of negative news, Inspiration4 provides a huge positivity boost! It is SpaceX’s first-ever all-civilian spaceflight, and is funded by billionaire tech entrepreneur Jared Isaacman. Each of the crew is unique and special, with the 3 day spaceflight bringing so much positivity and joy to the spaceflight industry.
In the recent weeks where lawsuits were filed over NASA grants and different companies arguing over whose founder made it to “space” first, Inspiration4 is an opportunity to do a reset of sorts. It is an opportunity for everyone to come together and realize what opportunities are available to do positive things for humanity as a whole. The goal is to raise $200 million dollars for St. Judes to help kids fight cancer.
Hayley Arceneaux will be youngest American to reach space and 1st spaceflyer with a prosthesis.
Sian Proctor will become the first-ever Black female spacecraft pilot. There have been other black female astronauts, but Sian will become the first ever pilot. This is really amazing as it shows that anyone can do anything and that there aren’t boundaries.
Jared Isaacman, 38, who funded the mission is a billionaire founder and CEO of Shift4 Payments. He has flown roughly 6,000 hours in various flight aircraft.
