We have previously looked at US National Parks, and other public lands in the path of totality for the 2024 total solar eclipse. Let’s extend the concept to the US National Monuments located in the path of totality for the 2024 solar eclipse!

There are 9 federal agencies in 5 departments that manage the 131 current U.S. national monuments, 116 of which are managed by 1 agency, and 15 are managed by 2 agencies. Management practices vary across agencies and sites according to their missions, the size or type of protected place, and legal authorization. Generally, hunting, fishing, and extraction of resources are prohibited. Agencies include the National Parks Service, the US Forest Service, BLM, and others; of which, we will focus on the BLM managed sites.

What we will be doing is just looking at the these that aren’t part of the NPS, so what that means is USFS, FWS, and BLM.

There is only 1 of these sites that is in the path of totality. Fort Stanwix has 100% totality, with no real totality time, so depending on where you are located in the Fort, you might be able to see totality.
