Not everything is funny or cute. If these headlines were released on April Fools Day, people would probably be more likely to dismiss them as fake. Some of these titles would cause serious problems regardless of when released, but others in this list are fake.
Miles Wide Meteor Headed On Collision Course With Earth
The article would probably be in the typical fashion of, “Today, scientists have discovered a massive meteor headed towards Earth. Although scientists are predicting a Pacific Ocean splashdown, the resulting tsunami and ash would do terrifying damage. With 24 months to prepare, NASA and other agencies are looking at every possible option. The story continues below…”
This would be awful because some would think this article is either April Fools Day joke, think it’s fake news, or panic. Earth impact stories will be scary and appearing on April Fools Day would make people more skeptical of the authenticity.
Massive Solar storm expected to hit earth today, knock out all electrical power
Just like the story above, if the CME were to hit Earth and knock out power, April Fools Day would be one of the worst times to publish the story. Although there is only a few days lead time, this would be so frightening as the potential EMP would really set civilization back before the Industrial Revolution.
Planet 9 Found Colonized By Super Advanced Aliens
Some might see this as great, with the opportunity to make new friends and unite humanity. Plus, the proof of advanced life would revolutionize science and religion in unpredictable ways. However, the risks of making contact could be disastrous for humanity with the advanced civilization wiping out humanity.
Rogue Black Hole Disrupts Orbit Of Uranus
This sounds like a headline that a grade schooler might laugh at. And to some, it might be extremely funny. But the scary part isn’t Uranus, but the rogue black hole that could then wreak the solar system in other ways.
