Let’s take a look at National Parks in Libya in regards to the path of totality for the 2027 total solar eclipse. Fun fact is that there were no national parks or protected areas in Libya prior to the Libyan coup of 1969.
After the revolution occurred, the new revolutionary government began to designate national parks and nature reserves in the 1970s. By 2009 seven national parks, there were 5 nature reserves and 24 other protected areas had been established, mostly along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. And there are now 7 National Park areas in Libya all of them will have the eclipse visible during the day, which we will take a look at below.
National Park | Maximum Totality Percent |
El Kouf National Park | 79.338% |
Surman National Park | 99.341% |
Sabratha National Park | 99.447% |
Algharabolli National Park | 99.564% |
El Naggaza National Park | 99.614% |
Abughilan National Park | 98.271% |
Ramja National Park | 90.237% |
Unfortunately none of the 7 National Parks have totality but are all really close except for El Kouf National Park and Ramja National Park, which is either 98 or 99%. Although they aren’t places to view totality; they are places to visit if in the area.
